Sites BlackBerry, Imo and Line messengers are in the registry of prohibited resources

The sites of three instant messengers, BlackBerry, Imo and Line, were listed by Roskomnadzor in the registry of prohibited resources. Now officials are trying to register all popular messaging services as organizers of information dissemination. The management of some messengers refuses to register and provide user data, after which Roskomnadzor blocks their sites.

As for the programs mentioned above, Imo.im got into the registry on April 19, and the rest of the services from April 28-29. In addition, IP addresses were entered into the same registry. Earlier, Roskomnadzor tried to block the Zello online radio service and its technical resources .

Now these services, despite blocking, work in Russia without any problems. Probably the reason is that the registry does not have as many IP addresses as, for example, in the case of the Zello Internet radio. Most likely, officials are trying to make it clear to the owners of the companies that developed these services, that if they continue to try to counteract the laws, even more stringent measures can be taken, after which the messengers simply cannot work in Russia.

The above said was confirmed by the press secretary of Roskomnadzor Vadim Ampelonsky: “Together with the bodies that carry out operational investigative activities, we systematically fill the register of information dissemination organizers. Those who do not react, are under blocking - in full accordance with the law. Give the data - will be excluded from the registry. The law clearly spelled out the procedure. The primary requirement is five days to respond. No response - notification of non-fulfillment of the duties of the disseminator, 15 days for correction. Next - the lock.

As for the sites of blocked messengers, the most popular messaging program can be called Line. Hundreds of thousands of users from Asia work with him, for example, in Thailand. In Russia, none of these programs is too popular, so the blocking is not very scary for their developers.

Some of the blocked messengers may well go to the conditions of the officials, if not all. The fact is that pre-blocking is a good method of persuasion. For example, at the beginning of this year, Threema's “most secure messenger” agreed to cooperate with the Russian authorities, just after receiving the pre-blocking. In addition, Baidoo is working with the department and dating site, which also met the conditions of the authorities.
