Rospotrebnadzor also controls the Internet: 156 sites selling alcohol are closed

“In the period from November 2015 to March 28, 2016, the territorial bodies of Rospotrebnadzor submitted over 250 applications to the judicial authorities about the recognition of information on the sale of alcoholic beverages by remote method, posted on websites on the Internet that are prohibited for distribution. As a result, according to 114 applications, according to the decisions of the judiciary, 156 websites and pages on the Internet were found to be prohibited for distribution and subject to closure, ” the agency’s website reports.

Now Rospotrebnadzor continues to perform work that is aimed at protecting customers from acquiring alcoholic beverages of unknown quality, which is sold in online stores, Vzglyad writes .

The Investigative Committee of Russia also agrees with the representatives of the department, suggesting the introduction of administrative and criminal liability for the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages on the Web. “It seems appropriate, taking into account the scale of the phenomenon under consideration, to introduce administrative, and under certain conditions, criminal liability for the illegal sale of alcoholic beverages by remote means,” the IC states.
