The most famous French media have
launched a campaign against advertising blockers, prompting users to remove such software when visiting print sites. However, some media within the campaign do not allow access to their content until the ad blocker is disabled by the user. At the same time, there are those publications that do not block content, but show readers a request to disable blockers. The campaign itself,
announced at the end of last year, was initiated by
GESTE , an association of online publishers, which includes the largest media in France, including Le Monde, Le Parisien, and L'Équipe, plus the Deezer music streaming service.
GESTE has already reminded its reader that the content and services of publishers are not free, and advertising is one of the main sources of funding for the media. At the same time, ad blockers use more and more French readers. According to the latest
data , 3 out of 10 users work with software of this kind. This is about 53% of Internet users of the age category from 16 to 24. They are trying to convince users to remove blockers and other well-known media, including Forbes and Bild.
Methods of persuading users are used very different. For example, Le Parisien and L'Équipe remain available to AdBlock users, but such readers are shown a message asking them to add the publication to the white list, that is, to allow advertising. Other media offer discounts on subscriptions for those readers who meet editions, and remove ad blockers or add the site to the white list.

A sourceIn an
article published today in L'Express, one of the managers of the publication describes the advertisement as a “necessity” for those who wish to read an electronic edition without a subscription. The author of the article also says that “ad blockers are far from angels,” recalling that for a fee, developers of anti-advertising software are putting the company on the white list. He also recognizes that advertisers should meet the readers' audience, supplying relevant advertising content that is interesting to users.
