Red Hat and dozens of other foreign companies do not accept resumes from Russia due to the law on the transfer of personal data

Red Hat, one of the largest developers of linux systems, has stopped accepting resumes from Russia for job seekers in electronic form through its resources, Roskomsvoboda reports . Apparently, the reason is the law on the transfer of personal data of Russians, which obliges foreign companies to transfer and process user data from Russia or copies of this data to servers located in the territory of the Russian Federation.

If you enter the Red Hat employment portal under the Russian IP address and try to select any vacancy by clicking on the appropriate button, you will not be able to send a request.

Instead, the following message appears:

')
"We regret. Due to the latest changes in the legislation on the protection of personal data in your country, we cannot accept online applications from candidates currently in your country. Please contact our personnel department (HR) for this, ”the message says.

Foreign companies react differently to the adoption of Law 242-FZ . Some, whose business is closely tied to Russian users, transfer data. Someone ignores the law, and someone officially refuses to work with Russian companies and users.

UPD. As it turned out, the resume from Russia does not accept the icams.com SaaS service, which is used by hundreds of companies (including RedHat, Amazon, etc.). So the summary of Russian users is not accepted only by Red Hat, this problem is much wider.
