The owners of the torrent tracker RuTracker decided to prepare for the possible loss of the main domain name. Previously, a number of rightholders declared their intention to seek the delimitation of the RuTracker.org domain. According to some lawyers, this is quite difficult to do, but the administration of the popular torrent tracker decided to provide for such a scenario.
To this end, representatives of the project team have registered and purchased about 100 new domains, writes Izvestia. The administration of Rutracker did not publish the list of registered domains for obvious reasons. Many domains are registered to the company Dreamtorrent Corp, it is the current owner of the domain Rutracker.org, so that by the name of the company you can check the ownership of a particular domain. Among the domains purchased is rutracker.net, previously owned by another company.
According to the founder of RuTracker, Egor Minin, most of the tracker’s audience will switch to a new one in the event of the main domain being blocked. “When the site moved from torrents.ru to rutracker.org, most users switched to a new domain,” said Minin.

There is also the opposite opinion expressed by the head of the Internet Video Association, Alexey Birdin. “Any Internet marketing and search engine optimization specialist knows that jumping from domain to domain leads to a significant loss to the audience. This run will take time and financial resources, and in the near future we will significantly materialize the material basis of the business of RuTracker and other pirated sites, ”said Birdin.
According to the head of the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC) Sergey Plugotarenko, in the event that the tracker moves to new addresses, the fight against it will be similar to the “fight against the many-headed hydra.”
