The head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, said that his department no longer claims Wikipedia regarding articles on drugs. After editing the four articles of the Russian-language Wikipedia about drugs, they no longer cause complaints with the Federal Drug Control Service, Interfax
reported . The corresponding statement was made by the head of Roskomnadzor at the “Internet-Economy 2015” forum.
“The history has been solved locally, but globally we hope that there will be a platform for dialogue between Wikipedia and the authorities that make decisions about blocking. But so far, such a site, unfortunately, no. The community of Wikipedia editors is very fragmented, heterogeneous, they cannot fully agree. Now the editors of Wikipedia have written a letter to its founder, Jimmy Wales, and they are waiting for his verdict - whether or not to communicate, ”said Zharov.
The head of the department believes that now there is no "acute situation" with the online encyclopedia. Nevertheless, the "strategic issue is not resolved." According to Alexander Zharov, Roskomnadzor should establish systematic interaction with Wikipedia.
Earlier, the agency wanted to block five articles on drugs on Wikipedia. One article was deleted, after which four materials were added to the registry. Due to the fact that the online encyclopedia works over SSL, blocking certain articles was not possible, therefore Roskomnadzor
was preparing to block the entire resource in Russia.
