Citizens of Russia will soon receive a special version of the “clean” Internet, in which non-useless information and unnecessary information, including immoral and politically harmful sites, are blocked.
“Religious” Wi-Fi will not miss messages from sectarians or extremists, information about the distorted facts of history and block requests for porn,
promised Izvestia head of the secretariat of the Inter-religious Council of Russia, deputy chairman of the Synodal Department for Interaction and the Church of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) priest Roman Bagdasarov.
Free access points to the “clean” Internet will be located near the temples, as well as on urban sites that are popular among citizens, especially among young people, for example, at Winzavod, at Museon, at Manege Square and Borovitskaya Square.
Profile church structures will protect the Russians. According to the priest, a group of specialists will manually select data that is safe and block unnecessary information.

“We do not say that only Orthodox sermons and Orthodox websites will be on the Orthodox Internet,” explained Roman Bagdasarov. - There will be a lot of things, including normal cinema - for example, the films “Alexander Nevsky”, “Burnt by the Sun” and many other domestic and foreign films that instil in people the right values, such as traditional morality, patriotism, protection of the family and children. And in order not to feed the trolls, who immediately begin to shout that we restrict people's rights, I will note: we do not restrict anyone. Do not want to use the Orthodox Internet - use the usual ".
Similar methods have already been tested in runet, they write "Izvestia". For example, for the Orthodox search engine “
Rublev ”, information is manually selected by 10–15 employees and volunteers. Now there are about 30,000 objects in the database, about 100 new ones are added daily, including news content.
The initiative of the Russian Orthodox Church to clean the Internet from obscenity was supported by the Department of National Policy of Moscow, the Council of Muftis of Russia and the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia.
“Taking into account the fact that the Internet plays an increasing role in public life, the Church cannot exist without the Internet. At the same time, she claims not only to use the Internet as a communication channel, but also to establish her own rules of the game there, ”said Pavel Salin, director of the Center for Political Science of the Financial University.
