Lubrication, napkins and passport: UK thinks about compulsory age verification for porn sites visitors

The Conservative Party of the United Kingdom promises, in case of its re-election, to introduce a mandatory age verification for visitors to sites with films about love for adults. Secretary of Culture Sahid Javid explained that an independent regulator who will act as an intermediary between visitors and site owners will be involved in this. The technology for executing such an order, as is customary for lawmakers, was not specified.

Experts believe that such a system will not only fly into the British penny, but also serve as the next step in the process of introducing Internet censorship on the islands. And technical problems are not uncommon - in 2013, Internet filters that were supposed to help parents protect children from “adult” content, accidentally blocked educational and training sites. And, of course, one of the main issues of such checks will be the issue of privacy and data storage mediator, who will have information about visits to such sites by specific people.

Conservatives are concerned, as they write on their Facebook page , that "on the Internet, everyone is two clicks away from porn." And they are threatening to completely block such sites if they can’t enter a reliable age check.

Currently, such verification is usually reduced to a request to enter the year of birth of the visitor, or a warning about the presence of "adult" materials on the site. But even if the check will be done using, for example, entering data from any document, inquisitive children can easily take over this data from their parents.

The leader of the conservative party is David Cameron, the current prime minister of the kingdom. His adviser recently recommended placing care on limiting pirated content on the Internet to providers, and he opposes the availability of free encryption tools.
