According to public opinion polls for March 13-18, the Icelandic Pirate Party
ranked 1st in the popularity rating among all political parties in the country!
In fairness it should be noted that in small Iceland, the ratings of the parties vary greatly. So, the same Pirate party only a month ago, the rating was 12.8%, compared with the current 23.9%. Perhaps this is not only a matter of the sharply increased love of the population for informational freedom, but also a significant measurement error.
“Frankly speaking, I don’t know what we owe to this level of trust,” party leader Brigitta Jónsdóttir confessed, “we’re all surprised, grateful, and we take it as a sign of mistrust in traditional politics.”
')
Brigitte YonsdottirIn support of her words, she turned to polls that show the level of trust in politicians below zero.
“Traditional politics shows no progress and people are tired of waiting for change. It is good that the people reject their corruption and arrogance. ”
Indeed, who of these past-party party bosses will answer questions from Reddit users, as Rick Falkvinge, the party evangelist, is
doing right now ?
Congratulations!
Hopefully, in the future, the position of the Pirates will become even stronger. Maybe someday they will occupy a majority in the country's parliament and even nominate their president. The only pity is that Iceland has no armed forces, because then it would be the
first pirate army from the Middle Ages !
