Roskomnadzor excluded "Lurkomore" from the registry of prohibited sites

The website Lurkmore.to has been excluded from the Unified Registry of Banned Sites. Roskomnadzor explains that the reason for this was the restriction of access to information prohibited by the laws of the Russian Federation.

On March 10, Roskomnadzor announced its intention to block the Lurkomorye Internet Encyclopedia at the request of the Federal Service for Drug Control. The Federal Drug Control Service believes that the pages with information about drugs and pedophilia should be blocked. But due to technical limitations - the site works over HTTPS with encryption - it is not always possible to restrict access to individual pages, so providers had to block the site completely. The creator of the resource, Dmitry Khomak, called the new blocking “blackmail” and “arm twisting”.

This is not the first time that access to Lurkomorye is blocked, but later restored. For the first time, government agencies turned their attention to the site in November 2012 because of articles about hemp. In August 2013, the domain of the resource was transferred to blocking because of an article about Adygea, but this was prevented by a spelling error. At the end of 2014, in articles about the “Molotov cocktail” and Ramzan Kadyrov, they were looking for extremism. In December last year, it became known that Valery Syutkin accidentally discovered that his image was used in images calling for women to be beaten. In the same month, several pages of the resource were put on the registry because of articles about drugs.
