Public Chamber is going to ban the trade in foreign delicacies in RuNet

Despite the fact that food embargo is now in force in the Russian Federation, according to which many food products from other countries are forbidden to import, trade in such products continues. This is done via the Internet, to monitor which and deal with sales is quite difficult. According to one member of the commission of the Public Chamber on social policy , labor relations and quality of life, online merchants did not stop selling imported delicacies after a formal ban was imposed.

“The perpetrators have moved into the field of the information space, in particular, have opened sites for the sale of prohibited products via the Internet. There, a number of stores that offer meat from Australia, fish from Norway, cheeses from France and Italy, meat delicacies from Spain, etc., opened their trading platforms, which is a violation of the Russian government’s decree No. 778, ”the representative of the Public Chamber Pavel Sychev.

It is worth noting that Sychev began his work with the fight against offenders of the food embargo offline. Thus, at the end of 2014, this public figure made a number of raids on some shops of well-known chains, finding a large number of violations of the embargo. After that, Sychev decided to conduct a similar “raid” on the Internet. Accordingly, a large number of Internet resources were discovered that traded in prohibited foods.

At the same time, Rospotrebnadzor reported that it was extremely difficult to fight online grocers, since the amount of work is simply enormous. At the same time, sales made by such “stores” are small in size, plus most of the goods sold were imported before the introduction of the food embargo.

Nevertheless, Pavel Sychev has already filed a statement with the Prosecutor General’s Office, indicating numerous cases of violation of the food embargo. The statement proposes to block those websites that sell imported snacks prohibited for import by the law of the Russian Federation.
