The Federation Council approved the law on the storage of personal data in the Russian Federation from September 1, 2015

The Federation Council approved the law, which obliges from September 1, 2015 to store personal data of Russians exclusively on domestic servers, reports TASS.



This bill was passed on December 17 by the State Duma in the second and third reading .



It was originally planned that the law would take effect on September 1, 2016, but in September 2014, a group of deputies submitted a bill to the State Duma to postpone this period to January 2015. However, the amendment did not pass, so the final date was set for September 1, 2015.

According to the document, when collecting personal data, including via the Internet, “the operator is obliged to record, systematize, accumulate, store, update / update, modify / extract personal data of Russian citizens using databases located in Russia”.



Domain names and network addresses that will not comply with the provisions of the law are proposed to be entered in a special “Register of violators of the rights of personal data subjects”. Lead him to Roskomnadzor.
