Google Chrome optimized memory handling: the browser has become faster
Video accelerated 8 times. It can be seen that Chrome 45 with Gmail open takes up about 60 MB of memory less than Chrome 43.
The developers of the Google Chrome browser in their official blog report that with the next update, the browser will receive several improvements aimed at optimizing work with the computer's RAM. In other words, Chrome began to struggle with what it is most often accused of - the extreme voracity of RAM. First of all, the browser tab restoration mechanism was updated after it was closed. Now the priority of the use of RAM belongs to those tabs that were opened last. This should save a few seconds and make it possible to start working faster. During tab restoration, Chrome will try to determine if the RAM is running out of resources, and, if so, restoring other tabs will be stopped until each one of them is opened by the user.
Also now, after opening any site, Chrome will be able to determine that the tab process does not require resources for the time being and due to this use free CPU time for garbage collection (Garbage Collection) - this feature appeared in the Chrome 41 V8 JavaScript engine. that on average this way you can free up to 10% of the memory used by the site. However, the greatest effect is achieved in complex web applications such as Gmail: it can free up about a quarter of the memory that each tab uses. ')
As previously reported , in the Chrome beta, unnecessary Flash content was automatically paused. It is estimated that this improvement increases battery life by 15% when working from battery. On September 1, all Google Chrome users began to receive the update.
