Mail.Ru Mail will hold the first ML-hakaton SmartMail Hack 2018

Mail.Ru Mail announces its first official hackathon SmartMail Hack 2018 on machine learning. The event for students of IT-specialties will be held from April 20 to April 22 in the Moscow office of Mail.Ru Group.

Participants will be offered to split into teams of two to five people and solve three tasks on Machine Learning: 48 hours are allowed for this. Winners will be announced in three respective nominations. The prize fund for the winning teams is 150 thousand rubles.

According to the condition of the first task, participants will need to build a model for recognizing company logos - such models can be used to detect phishing emails. The second task is to create a model for recognizing orders from stores; a special dataset will be generated for this. The third task is free: create a new useful function of Mail.Ru Mail, create a working prototype and defend the jury.

The jury will evaluate the accuracy and adaptability of the decisions. When choosing a winner in the third nomination, the uniqueness of the idea, its practical applicability and the possibility of implementation will also be taken into account.

In the process of solving, participants will be able to use the help of mentors - leading ML specialists from Mail.Ru Group. Also at the event will be the head of Machine Learning at Mail.ru Mail Edward Tiantov with a lecture on Face Recognition: From Scratch to Hatch and the ML team leader in anti-spam and Mail.Ru Mail Alexander Schus with a story about Smart Reply technology — smart answers.
