Last week, VMware
announced an update to its vRealize Suite cloud management platform. It will be released on May 4 of this year, aimed at simplifying work with
SDDC (software-defined data center) and includes a number of new features.
In more detail about some of them we will tell under a cat.

vRealize Operations: New Predictive Analysis Solutions
One of the components of the vRealize Suite that received the update was vRealize Operations. Users can now set targets for individual loads in the control panel, and the system will balance them.
For example, this feature
allows you to optimize the utilized resources of nodes in the network, reducing operating costs, comply with the SLA requirements and allocate additional space in the cluster for business critical applications. To do this, vRealize runs the Performance Automation service
using predictive analytics methods.
Another component of vRealize Operations that will appear after the upgrade is called the Capacity Analytics Engine. This
engine analyzes power requirements and resource allocation in real time. Due to this, users can monitor and optimize the load. The engine is based on the
ARIMA model, which is able to predict the state of the system (for example, sudden traffic spikes) based on events in the past.
New solutions
will also
allow customers to save by automatically releasing unused resources and determining the optimal number of machines in a virtual environment. In addition, users will be able
to run “what if” scripts to schedule workload (depending on needs) for future projects in the cloud (for example, in a private cloud based on
VMware vSphere ).
The capacity of the Analytics Engine can also be the basis for the implementation of MO systems in the future.

vRealize Automation helps you configure servers and desktops in virtual, physical, private, public, and hybrid cloud environments. In this release, the solution was
provided with new features for the provision of services, as well as improvements related to multi-tenant architecture and product integration:
- New features for creating application templates and working with OVF. There are 20 free templates and 100 OVF-files "out of the box", which will help speed up the scanning of applications. To add these options, VMware teamed up with Bitnami, a company that builds a library of popular applications, and developers of different databases (GitLab, Hadoop, Jenkins, and MongoDB).
- Custom Form Designer Update: Now you can create service request forms for items in the vRealize Automation catalog.
- Enhanced multi-tenant architecture: with the help of special filters, the new version will allow you to better understand what is happening with one or another infrastructure elements and network services. In addition, support has been added to the latest version of the vRealize Orchestrator solution, which is also multi-tenant.
Update vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager
This product helps automate lifecycle management (from installation and configuration to monitoring status) of vRealize Suite elements from a single console.
The updated version
offers the following features.
- Integrated “app store”: this release of the vRealize Suite is supplemented with an analogue app store, which has products from VMware and company partners. There are management packs available for vRealize Operations, additional packages for vRealize Log Insight, as well as plugins and application templates for vRealize Automation. They can be downloaded, deployed, and deleted using Lifecycle Manager.
- IT Content Lifecycle Management: allows you to manage the development lifecycle, including automate the release, testing and deployment of applications. For this, integration with GitLab is provided. The function will also allow working with infrastructure components as if they were ordinary applications, and using DevOps principles to manage vRealize content in different environments.
