Theory of the decrepit laptop

Hello. I want to share a little silly theory. The essence of it is that dead laptops, and "iron" in principle, make you make software better.

Perhaps you are reading Habrahabr in the workplace. Look at your work machine. Surely you have a rather weak iron, which is noticeably different from the ordinary home computer of an ordinary person. It is easy to understand why this is so, because at work it is a working tool, one should not waste time waiting for compilation, loading a web page or another resource-intensive operation.

However, here lies the devil. And from here comes the theory of a decrepit laptop! Think about how your working machine affects the software that you create? Yes, your Core i7 and 16GB of RAM not only help you save working time, but also masks the brakes of your software from you.

“But we profile! Here the page is now loaded 2 times faster, but this module works quite well, ”many will answer. But this is not an obvious thing, it’s one thing to see the system performance in numbers, and another thing is to face the brakes yourself.
')
And what if the developers did not use the most advanced equipment? What if every time they launched their application, opened their page, they would have to wait just like the user, or even more? At first it is tolerable, but then these seconds begin to ache and pull life energy out of you. And we, programmers, such people, do not like to wait, and soon we will plug this hole for ourselves. Well, isn't it a profit?

Sell your MacBook Pro, buy old Asus.
