We had: 120 free hours of the sound designer, 80 free hours of the Unity developer, a prototype with one level and gameplay (but no graphics), news about the launch of Falcon Heavy with Tesla on board, and the desire of the team leader - he is the author - to do something new. So, it all started with a prototype, which my colleague brought in one morning. Made for the night, as it should, according to the classics. It was a few months ago, we were working hard on other projects, and we, having positively assessed the prototype, put it on the shelf “until better times”.
The best of times didn’t keep me waiting long, and one morning I decided to sketch out graphs for this prototype, which is called, to wear it in a couple of hours. A couple of hours spilled out, of course, in a couple of days, and we started putting on graphics on the prototype, creating levels simultaneously. The sound designer was instructed to write tracks “on a space theme”. From the very beginning, we obtained both pleasant scoring and pleasant art, the development was very dynamic and fast. Each new build brought more and more fun. Testers had to take away phones by force. It all ended with the fact that, having received the result, the team decided not to bother, not to look for a publisher, but first just put the product in the AppStore and show the world what we did.
Everything seems to be clear, but someone will surely ask: “And what’s the point of Tesla running into space?” The answer can be found after passing through the 9th stage.
The game is now 33 levels, there are no in-appy and advertising. Pure gameplay in the old school spirit! Over time, of course, we will introduce monetization. Now we are working on new content, levels, new missiles and gameplay elements, we divide the levels into worlds and improve the UI.
The first players of the product are very warm, which motivates us to develop it further.
