Hello! We want to announce a panel discussion on Kubernetes, which will be held on February 13, online on our youtube channel. Experts from the companies of Flant, Roketbank, Axept Global and, of course, Avito will get together and discuss those Kubernetes pitfalls that they were able to collect, share their experience using the tool, talk about solving non-trivial applications.

Under the cut - an exemplary discussion program, the issues that we plan to discuss, as well as passwords and turnout for those who want to join us online. In the comments you can add to the list of questions for discussion, be sure to try to highlight. Add a post to your bookmarks: after we hold this meeting, update it and post the video.

Approximate meeting agenda

  1. CDN.
  2. Federation.
  3. Streaming.
  4. DB.
  5. LDAP.
  6. Persistent Storage (S3, etc).
  7. Distributed Storage.

Questions that we plan to discuss

  1. Tuning etcd. As the main database for Kubernetes relatively often timeouts,

especially if deploy through Helm. Share experiences on how to solve such problems.
  2. Kubernetes Dashboard provides many tools for interacting with

cluster - from viewing console output to removing containers. It is important to organize access to the Dashboard to different team members (developers, QA). Let's talk about the technical (LDAP, etc) and logical implementation (access rights). We will discuss the experience of setting DEX.
  3. We will discuss the monitoring of space on PV in cases where Ceph RBD is connected to Kubernetes.
  4. Let us tell you how to upgrade ABAC cluster without idle time in RBAC.
  5. The world of open-source (and not only) gives us complete freedom of choice. But as a result of this, there is no smooth integration of components. Each item has to be updated manually. As a result, there is a lot of work both in tracking the change history (ChangeLog) and when rolling it. A separate story - testing the compatibility of these components. Let's talk about how to solve these problems. Find out if there is a system for monitoring updates, problems, updates and rollback updates by clicking.
  6. In Kubernetes, security and secret management are fairly simple. Let's talk about what tools for this can be used, discuss what pitfalls you might encounter and what recommendations exist.
  7. Storing configurations (charts, values.yaml, etc.) when using Helm.
