Transcription of geographical names in Open Street Map. Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia
Hello everyone who uses OSM. Each of us has our own tasks when working with maps, but one of the basic functionals of course is the search for geographic features, at least settlements, as well as the rendering of maps.
The problem is that the value of the name tag for nodes, paths and relationships is indicated in Russian only for Russian-speaking countries. At the same time, the tag name: ru is indicated only for large cities and famous places. In general, the search for objects on the map of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia in Russian is difficult.
In my program, osm maps are exported to MS SQL Server database, the wcf service is responsible for finding objects by name. Immediately after exporting the database, hand-written transcripts are processed. Simple transcripts, written on the basis of the corresponding wikipedia articles:

So far there are two problems: complex and traditional names. Transcripts, of course I will refine with time, and increase the base of traditional names.
However, the search for the specified countries in Russian is not quite a problem. If there are suggestions and comments, do not pass by.
