Hello! As a designer and illustrator, I decided to do what no one would expect from me - to write an illustrated design article entitled “10 skills of a cool designer in 2018”. Go!
1. Self-determination
First of all, it is necessary to understand which areas of design are right for you. What is closer to you: layout, technical design, branding, web, three-dimensional graphics? It is better to focus on those areas that you are really interested.

2 conciseness
You are lucky if a potential client allocates at least three seconds to review your work. In the ocean of information, one cannot do without the skill of briefly expounding the essence without losing meaning - both in visual solutions and when working with text.

3. Selectivity
Subscribe to the content you are interested in and ruthlessly filter everything else. In this way, the so-called “forcedness” is formed, which is so in demand in the profession, and you will also save your time.

4. Adaptability
Each device and program has its own format, and these formats are constantly updated. You will need quick learner and flexibility of thinking to generate universal ideas that can be scaled to fit any media.

5. Networking
Today you can work with experts anywhere in the world. The main thing is to formulate principles according to which you will be able to select those with whom you will comfortably and productively interact. Then start building a network of trusted people.

6. Professionalism
Are you the one who finds the ready-made solutions on the drains and combines them, or the one who creates the design from scratch? If the second, then it should be done at a level higher than in the photobank, otherwise the employer will be easier to replace you with a specialist in image search.

7. Presentation
Design is one of the elements of the sales system. To grasp the connection between creativity and trade, it is worthwhile to understand the basic marketing tools, because with the help of your design you sell not only the products of your customers, but also yourself.

8. Versatility
It is up to you to narrow your scope of work only to a narrow specialization, or scale it up and learn to assemble the entire turnkey project. The demand, the order of prices and load in these cases may differ significantly.

9. Self-organization
No customer likes time offsets and messages left unanswered. If you want to achieve loyalty to yourself, then enter the mode of the day, or look for people and tasks that match your schedule.

10. Engagement
If you have correctly identified the range of interesting design trends, then the work will be fun. It will be easy for you to get involved in the process and put a piece of yourself in it. Any customer will appreciate this approach.

Like this. I wish everyone to become this year something a bit cooler!
Discussion, with indignation, skepticism, praise and wishes is welcome.
