The DevFest North conference was first held in St. Petersburg in September 2017.
We managed to get a lot of feedbacks, posted photos and video reports.
It is time to take stock of all the results.
But first things first.
A brief overview of the reports
Opened the

Here is a video of his speech.
Mikhail Vaysman GDG Moscow CEO Trinity Digital made an introduction to TensorFlow, explaining in examples of poetic studies that the Turing test is not so easy to pass. Well, one of the poets, according to the results of the discussion in the hall, was recognized as a machine, because he did not pass this test.

Oksana Pokrovskaya , Android developer, Trinity Digital, Petrozavodsk.
Colleagues delivered a joint report. They showed how to implement a simple firebase game (IPA is really simple, it is impossible to make a mistake there) and, in principle, charged people for further feats. Including a trip to Petrozavodsk in order to get free game cards from Trinity Digital!
Here devils tongues - persuade anyone!

Zviad Kardava , GDE Moscow, Google Relations. We admit honestly, we don’t really like IOT reports, because there are not so many projects on them at the moment. But here at Zviad, reports are obtained at the same time interesting (shows demos, jokes) and informative (readily tells about complex things). Report on Android Things is no exception - it turned out to be dynamic and bright.
Here he is
Well, the cherry on the cake was a philosophical-visionary and creative report from
Bob Van Luijt Google Developer Developer, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Creative Technologist, Kubrickology. Bob told about the creative component of programming, about the all-consuming Internet of things and called his report
A Semantic Internet of Things
In one day, students were able to watch two dozen reports about Kotlin, TensorFlow, development tools, test automation, IoT, Firebase.
You have read the review of only some of them.
The full playlist of all reports
is available here .
And finally, about how many billions of nerve cells the organizers lost and how was the preparation.
First, GDG SPB and GDG PTZ joined forces in preparation.
Secondly, our wonderful sponsors decided to support the GDG initiative, which allowed us to leave the ticket price very affordable and bring very strong foreign speakers to St. Petersburg.
Here they are:
Google
Is the ideologue of the whole GDG movement
Yandex.Taxi
Revolut
JetBrains
Tinkoff
Trinity digital
DataArt
The guys from the St. Petersburg volunteer organization helped us a lot.
As a general result, you can safely say that the event turned out.
After all, the main thing is to get the benefit of good technical content and talk with colleagues in the shop.
And here is a quote from one of the organizers of DevFest North:
What would I do differently if I knew in advance the outcome of the conference.
- I would never get involved
- Dissuaded friends from getting involved
- Added to the program more reports about Kotlin
If you are interested in Android, Kotlin then send your application for reports here.
We are just planning the first half of the year, so we can help you prepare a report and you will speak at the nearest GDG or KUG (you heard that a Kotlin User Group appeared in St. Petersburg)
See you at the next mitap!
