Fukubukuro in LANIT office: sharing a bag of happiness

The end of the year in all the offices of the country smells not of tangerines and gingerbread, but of deadline and burning projects. And against the background of all this you need to hold a corporate event and it is desirable that everyone survive. Nobody canceled the favorite holiday, it is impossible to transfer it, but to celebrate it is strictly necessary. Otherwise, the next business year will turn out wrong - a sure sign.

We immediately abandoned the traditional scenarios: get together at the festive table, invite artists, go to a cafe opposite. I wanted to go the other way and create a truly memorable festive atmosphere. How about the new year in Japanese style? It turned out interesting, and we decided to share the idea and results with all Habr. Take on weapons. Banzai!

Year of Japan in Russia

To decorate shopping centers and city streets to the main night of the year began in mid-November. And it turns out that in a month and a half, people become overwhelmed with New Year paraphernalia and the anticipation of the New Year miracle disappears. Therefore, we began to look for other ideas - above all, for the mood.

2018 is the year of Japan in Russia. Why not invite your colleagues to plunge into the unique fantastic world of the land of the rising sun and get to know its culture and traditions more closely? Moreover, Japan gave the world a lot of what is now the basis of competent management in the IT sphere. And we began to prepare for the New Year in the Japanese style.

We make office

For ten days, the office of the Corporate Systems Department of LANIT has become a Japanese quarter.

Bright paper lanterns and colorful paper garlands created the appropriate atmosphere and added a festive mood.

Plush panda named Chiu met guests at the entrance.

Holiday legend was supported by posters with the program, check-lists with tasks to the teams and presentation on plasma screens in the office.

In the photo zone, you could try on Japanese clothes or a samurai outfit.

Everywhere there are notes with wishes to friends and colleagues, Japanese omikudzi divination “What does the coming year prepare for us?”

New day - as a gift

Each new day was devoted to a specific topic.

Fukubukuro from Japanese literally translates as "bag of happiness." And the slogan of the New Year sprint we chose the appropriate one - Bill Kane's quote “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift”. So in our sprint, every new day is a gift to employees.

We organized a day on the principle of "4 + 1". According to Japanese philosophy, there are not four, but five elements (or, as they are also called, primary elements): air, water, earth, fire and supreme - emptiness, or contemplation. Therefore, the morning staff began with Zazen meditation. The guys mastered the basic techniques of conducting meditation and learned to keep calm in the raging rhythm of the metropolis.

In the evening there was a time for master classes and seminars.

One of them was devoted to Sumi-e Japanese painting. Writing hieroglyphs and Japanese painting techniques help to find an inner balance, calm the mind - without this, the hieroglyph or picture is unlikely to work out well.

You could also try your hand at designing origami.

One of the days we called “The Way of the Samurai” and arranged an aikido lesson.

The guys worked out the elements of protection and tried to work in pairs.

There was also a seminar “The Way of the Samurai. Methodology of IT project management ”: the speaker tried to convey to the seminar participants the idea of the importance of finding harmony and balance for successful work, introduced the Japanese philosophy of project management.

The Day of the Theater of Shadows was dedicated to dynamic entertainment: for example, we organized an online pantomime game to which regional offices were able to connect. Employees came up with situations or took phrases related to Japan and recorded video pantomimes. Other participants in the sprint had to solve them.

Susuvatari (literally, “wandering soot”) is brought up in every office from diligent and hard work. These are small, black, fluffy as fur lumps of soot with curious eyes that settle in abandoned and cluttered places, the heroes of the beloved cartoon "Spirited Away". The employees had the task to find all the “chernushki” hidden in the office. At the same time and put things in order in the workplace.

Holiday in the office was a success. Here are just lovely susuvatari at the beginning of the game was 54, and 63 returned ... What would that mean?
