How to draw a Christmas tree in MIDI

About a year ago, MIDI Drawing style videos began to appear on Youtube, in which notes are used for drawing. It looks funny, sometimes it even sounds quite acceptable.

Despite the apparent complexity, even those who are vaguely aware of the differences of a seventh chord from a triad can do such a thing. Consider the example of creating such a video on the example of a picture with a Christmas tree:

It all started with a Facebook post that scored about 3 million views:

FL Studio is used in the original video, but we will use a simpler online RiffShare editor.

Step-by-step instruction

Open a blank sheet in the online editor RiffShare - open in the editor

Add a simple rhythm on drums - a low drum in every fourth cell, high through time, and of a few cymbals:

Add a bass line. Let it be a monotonous boom-boom-boom, for example on a note Mie. To make a little more lively budum use two basses alternately.

For E-note, a major chord also contains notes in G Sharp and C. So as not to go into theory, the notes of a chord are those frequencies that sound good together.
Let's make a yellow instrument (violin) the support lines on the specified notes in each octave. The lines themselves will then be deleted. they are only for drawing.
Also add a Christmas tree with a green instrument (this is a guitar, but its sound is also not needed and we will lower its volume to zero):

Add the rhythm of the melody in red (guitar with overdrive). Just randomly arrange the notes on the same strip as the bass, but an octave higher:

Shuffle the notes along the Christmas tree branches to make a melody:

The main work is done. Add the notes of the red instrument (any from the bald, but only on the beat of the rhythm and height of the notes of the chord, then they will sound good).

Remove the yellow stripes, listen to the end result:

It looks like a Christmas tree, it sounds normal.

Additionally

To share the melody does not necessarily record video. It is enough in the editor menu (the icon with a nut in the upper left corner) to copy the URL in the item " full URL (right-click and select 'copy link address') " and insert the link in a comment, post or any text message.
