Selection of resources for a job seeker programmer
Being engaged in Java training and graduate employment since 2013, I have accumulated a fairly large collection of links to the topics of resume writing, online tests, preparing for interviews and passing interviews, looking for work and tips for beginners. The part is suitable for all candidates, the part (by preparation) is specific to Java. I offer you this selection:
email, skype: it is very desirable that by them you are recognizable. Get workers, if not so.
write ALL IT experience: technologies, which specific tasks were solved, which tools were used, VCS, DB, assembly tools, including experience in the university.
convenient to have a resume on the Internet: GitHub Pages , HeadHunter (open for viewing without authorization!), LinkedIn, Google doc, ..., so that they can conveniently share.
Learn to properly formulate a problem. The problem "does not work for me" can have thousands of reasons. In the process of formulating her decision comes very often.
Learn to research the problem. Careful reading of the logs and the ability to debug - the basic skills of the developer. In the logs it is necessary to read the top of the bottommost accessory - there is the cause of the whole footcloth.
Properly take time to each problem. Two extremes - immediately rush for help and beat us for hours. Try to solve it yourself, and depending on the problem, set aside a reasonable time for this.
If you explain something to the project - be sure to write down.
When you get the task - specify everything in great detail.
Receive feedback in the decision process - whether you are going in that direction.
Do not ignore joint lunches (smoking rooms)
Get ready for stand-ups / flyers. Ask them sane questions. Show interest
Highlight the most important thing by interviewing the boss and important colleagues. Do not spray on the little things
Happy reading / viewing and wish not to drown in this sea of information. Remember: it is impossible to know everything, the ultimate goal is to get an offer. Go to the interview, the only way to get a real experience and in the end find a favorite job.
