Russia ranked first at the World Robot Olympiad
Russian robotics took a third of all medals in Costa Rica - 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. For the world championship team prepared the University Innopolis.
The World Robot Olympiad 2017 world robotics competition ended in San Jose. For two days, 392 teams from 53 countries competed for medals in the “Basic”, “Creative”, and “Student” categories and in the “Football of Robots”. At the competitions Russia represented 41 robotics from 10 regions of the country.
Russians took the first places in the “Main” category in the older and middle age group, in the younger age group our robotics took the whole pedestal. Two more gold from Russia in the "Creative" category in the older and middle age group. The team Fixies from Innopolis for the second year in a row brought the bronze of "Football Robots".

According to Aleksey Khabibullin, Head of the Department of Design Olympiads at Innopolis University, such a success of the national team is the result of the systematic work of the national organizers and the right strategy for the formation and preparation of the national team. Innopolis University conducted focused federal training camps, schools of olympiad training and teacher training courses.
“This is the triumph of the Russian national team. We have 8 medals and the first place in the team event, the teams in the 2nd and 3rd place have only 3-4 medals each. We could have more medals in “Football robots”, if the draw did not happen so that our guys had to compete with each other, - says Alexey Habibubllin. - After the final, we had a meeting with representatives of national teams from other countries who asked how we managed to prepare teams at that level. They took our contacts to work out with Russian coaches, visit our sites and invite them to share experiences. Foreign colleagues and judges emphasized that Innopolis University is doing an excellent job with the field of Olympiad robotics. ”
Recall that in 2014, Innopolis University holds the All-Russian Robotic Olympiad and prepares the Russian team for the World Robot Olympiad. Last year, Russian robotics brought 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals from India. In 2018, the WRO finals will be held in Thailand.
