Why do I need a number

Apple uses the DUNS number to make sure your company exists. The assignment of numbers deals with the firm D & B, to which Apple has entrusted all the responsibilities for the verification of legal entities.

We decided to conduct an experiment and get a number for one of our customers, who was just about to publish an application from a legal entity. On the official website of D & B and asked if you can get a room for free. The representative of the agency first wanted to transfer us to the Russian-speaking office, but we clarified that Interfax-Dan and Bradstreet offers only paid services. Five minutes later they became the owner of the link for getting the number for free .

1. Follow the link. We are registered on the site .



2. Accept the terms of the user agreement



3. Click on the blue button to get a number for free



4. We try to find a company in the registry. We did not find the right one - we tried to add it to the database by clicking on the button at the bottom of the page.



The site did not allow to change the region from America to Russia, the field was inactive. Therefore, they wrote to the support service at applecs@dnb.com.

5. On the same day a letter arrived with instructions. We were asked to send information about the company:

Street Address (Cannot be a PO Box, but the physical location of this company)

Company Phone Number (Local telephone number that is monitored during business hours)
Contact Name, Email and Phone

They answered questions in English and attached a scan of the OGRN. Please note that the names of your company on Apple and D & B should be exactly the same.

6. For two weeks nothing happened, we sent a clarifying letter to D & B. The answer came that the application will be considered for another ten days. And the next day they sent a DUNS number to the mail.
