The most prudent have already begun to think about what to give to their relatives and friends, friends and colleagues. And on the Habrahabr, meanwhile, the new year gift exchange ceremony - Anonymous Father Frost 2017-2018 , which has already become traditional since 2012, starts. If you love to receive gifts, and most importantly - you love to give them, then I am surprised why you are still here!

Who can participate?


All Habrakhabra users who have a full account at the time of registration (ReadOnly- and Read & Comment-accounts cannot participate) with a karma of 10.0 units or higher can participate.

How to register?


To register, go to https://habra-adm.ru/2017/ , click "Log in through Habrahabr", click "Allow", enter your real name and mailing address and click "Register a participant." Before distribution of addresses you have the opportunity to click "I changed my mind (s) to participate" to withdraw my application. The data you entered will be permanently deleted.

︎Please pay special attention to the correctness of filling out the form. For example, in Russia you may not be given a parcel without a middle name (if you have one). The rules of the Post of Russia can be found here .

I registered. What's next?


Wait until December 1 night from 29 to 30 November. On this day, registration closes, and the game begins. Each user is divided into two roles:

Role 1. Anonymous Santa Claus (ADM)


The most important role is because the success of the whole event depends solely on the conscientious fulfillment of the role of Santa Claus. In the card on the right, where it says “Your gift recipient”, after the draw of addresses, the name and address of the person to whom you must send the gift will appear. If you want to contact your granddaughter or granddaughter, click on the chat icon in the upper right corner of the APP card. Please note that the recipient does not see your name or address (which is why you are anonymous Santa Claus).

︎ Notifications of new messages in the chat come to a special part of Habrahabr, called “Application Tracker”. You can get into it by clicking on the bell icon in the upper right corner of Habrahabr and selecting the tab “Applications” in it. Do not forget to follow this section of the site!


We do not impose any restrictions on the gift, but not everything in the world can be sent by mail. The requirements of the Post of Russia can be found here . In particular, do not send mercury to your recipient .

︎Please, do not forget to mark "I sent a gift" on the site after sending the parcel. It is also considered to be good practice to send the track number of the item to your recipient via “Anonymous chat”.

Role 2. Anonymous Gift Recipient (APT)


According to the law of saving gifts, if someone sent something, someone must receive something (in ideal conditions). Here your second role comes into play: Anonymous Gift Recipient (APP). Chat with Santa Claus opens by clicking on the dialog icon on the left card (the one where you entered your data during registration). Please note that Santa Claus sees your real name and mailing address. Anonymous gift recipient is called because no one except the organizers knows your nickname. Thus, if you are not an active user of social networks, it is quite difficult to establish the correspondence between your virtual personality and the real one.

If you wish, you can take a picture of the present that came to you and put it on public display in the “ Post boasting with gifts ”. If you do not want to reveal your nickname in this way, send the photo to kafeman's private messages, which will publish your comment on your behalf.

︎Please, do not forget to mark "I received a gift" on the site after receiving the parcel. If instead you see “You haven’t sent anything yet,” ask your Santa Claus to tick off the checkbox “I have sent a gift” and click on the “Next” button. Otherwise, the system will automatically identify Santa Claus as a number of unreliable participants, and he will not be able to take part next year.
