Inkscape tutorial: draw a cartoon turkey

I recently found one funny tutorial and due to the impending Thanksgiving for many of us, I think drawing a turkey at this time is a wonderful idea. Fully sure that you have not once painted such drawings, but in this case we use the skills that we have mastered in previous years.

Open Inkscape and the new host, and start with a couple of laps. Make the fill brown and the stroke dark brown or black. For this, the first circle can be selected and duplicated using Ctrl + D. After that, reduce the size of one of the circles. Open the Align and Arrange window and align both circles vertically. Now imagine that this is the head and body.

Create your eyes by drawing two circles with white coloring and black stroke. Add a black circle to each of them. Use the Align and Arrange window to better align them.

A bit of imagination and a small triangle with a yellow shade and black stroke is a beak. In order to slightly distort his upper side, I worked on it with a mouse.

Turkeys have a “beard” or an appendage under the beak. I drew it using the Bezier curve drawing tool, rearranging the node handles that are easily corrected, but you can also use the Pen tool.

The time has come for the wings, whose zigzag outlines are created with the help of a tool for drawing Bezier curves. Select Contour> Contour Object and distort the lines until you get three smooth curves. Change the colors of their fill and stroke to the same as the body of the bird.

Rotate them around the axis and duplicate, and then dilute the primary and secondary objects on the left and right sides of the bird's body.

If the body and physiognomy of the bird causes you to have positive emotions, select them and group them, do not let your work disappear and save your drawing. Now let's do some feathers. To create a feather outline, start by drawing a long oval. When you draw it, select Contour> Contour Object.

Use the node tool again and add a couple of nodes to its largest end in the future so that it can be slightly adjusted.

To go to the plumage, add the final touch. Using the tool to draw Bezier or Feather curves, draw a simple line inside and along the pen. I made my own a little darker than the color of the pen itself. When finished, group both objects, and also move the center of rotation to the right side of the pen.

After selecting the appropriate group, we will go to the “Edit> Clones> Create Clone Pattern” window. In it, change the following values:

X offset per column - 100%
X scale per column - 5%
The angle of rotation on the column is 10 degrees.
Rows, columns - 1.11

After changing these values, click the New button. You should have the following:

Now selecting the plumage, group the feathers it contains. Duplicate the group and mirror its copy horizontally. You can do this many times in order to increase the plumage. I think my turkey is huge, but I like it. Turn it and center it, and then place it behind the bird's body.

Paws draw tool Pen, simply making a few lines. Group them and duplicate, mirror the copy horizontally. Put them down.

You need to make a shadow to get the finished drawing. Draw a couple of circles, or ungroup the ones drawn earlier and duplicate one of them. I made it a little darker than the color of the turkey.

You will need a crescent-shaped shade, so position them as shown below. With both circles selected, select the Contour> Difference command.

The resulting shape can be placed on the lower right side of the bird's physiognomy. Use for it a transparency of 50%. Make sure the key and beard are in front of the shadow.

Do the same with the bird body. You can also add a drop shadow to the group so that the turkey is ready.

If there is a need, you can add a background image. I hope you enjoy what you finally do.
