Odoo 11 is released - an open system for business automation
In the academic town of Louvain-la-Neuve (Louvain-la-Neuve) near Brussels, about a week ago, the 3-day Odoo Experience 2017 conference was held , which brought together Odoo developers and users from around the world.
I was there, drinking beer, and talking about Odoo. And I’m writing this post for those who haven’t heard anything about Odoo, or haven’t yet tried this beautiful platform.
Odoo is the world's most popular open platform for business applications, which has been developing since 2005 (TinyERP -> OpenERP -> Odoo). ')
Other Odoo users include companies such as Toyota, Hyundai, Danone, and others.
Business applications for Odoo are available both on the Odoo market and in countless repositories on Github.
In total, more than 10,000 business applications are registered on the Odoo Market, which makes Odoo Market the largest app store for businesses.
A large eco-system has developed around Odoo, which includes more than 5,000 developers from 23 countries publishing more than 300 new applications each month.
The development of Odoo is the Belgian company Odoo SA , included in the list of the fastest growing companies in Europe.
At the Odoo Experience 2017 conference, the 11th release of Odoo was announced. The focus was on improvements in usability, speed, new design and mobile interface. There have also been countless improvements in various applications. This link is available summary of performances on the release of Odoo 11, and below the video presentation version 11:
In the 11th version, a fundamentally new feature appeared - this is Services API or In App Purchases. This allows you to create application services, which was demonstrated by the example of an application for sending SMS from a customer card. The authors of the application (in this case, Odoo SA themselves) launched an SMS service, and made it available to all 3.7 million odoo.com users. The following is a record of the Odoo Services API founders:
The API for Services allows you to publish your application in Odoo Market, and at the same time ensure payment of a certain consumed resource.
There are two versions of Odoo: Open Source and Enterprise. The differences are not fundamental, in the Enterprise version there is another version of the WEB interface of the backend, and a separate mobile application is available. The prices for the Enterprise version can be found here .
The fastest or easiest way to get acquainted with Odoo is to register for the Odoo Trial and get access to your personal instance.
And finally, a fly in the ointment.
Standard Odoo applications are well localized, however, the Accounting module needs some work on Russian realities, and so far no one has taken it (ay, where are you our hero !?). However, this does not interfere with the full use of Odoo in the framework of management accounting, having adjusted the uploading of data to 1C for official accounting.
Finally, I cite a number of links to various Odoo modules:
If someone has questions on Odoo, write in the comments, I will try to answer (I use this system even when it was called TinyERP). The system is not simple, but complete, reliable and multifunctional!
