Often, user data is distributed between the data center and a private or public cloud (sometimes several clouds at once). According to Cisco, Intersight is a scalable solution that will help manage data in this “variegated” environment. Intersight is also designed to simplify work with sweep models: containers and microservices.
Cisco Intersight has a dynamic UI that is configured depending on the role of the user. In doing so, the platform is constantly learning to help simplify routine IT operations.
The platform is becoming more intelligent due to cloud components of machine learning. Cisco will gather information about the users' infrastructure, analyze trends, and then apply intelligent systems to indicate likely points of failure and to make recommendations on the use of resources.
Intersight offers new APIs, so Cisco UCS and HyperFlex can work with tools for continuous software deployment and configuration management — Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and PowerShell.
At the same time, the platform inherited the standards of the Cisco InfoSec solution, which allows you to set up secure communication between the Intersight SaaS platform and the target data centers. Development and update of applications occurs in a secure environment.
Cisco Intersight will be available on the market in two versions. Intersight Base Edition will be distributed free of charge. It includes monitoring systems, a custom control panel, a HyperFlex installer for scanning clusters, and the ability to launch context-sensitive UCS Manager, IMC and HyperFlex Connect.
Intersight Essentials Edition - the second version of the platform - will include all the functionality of the free solution, as well as the ability to customize profiles in accordance with security policies, firmware management, Hardware Compatibility Listing checks and update recommendation service.
About working with Cisco and adapting the Intersight platform have already been announced by companies at IBM. This is not surprising, since in more than 15 years of partnership, Cisco and IBM have delivered solutions to 25 thousand customers around the world. IBM representatives noted that "the new management platform Cisco Intersight is another step in the development of the managed infrastructure market." Pure Storage has also become a Cisco partner in this area.
Cisco Intersight ( video ) is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of this year. According to the developers, the platform easily integrates with existing UCS and HyperFlex tools, so its implementation will not affect the increasing complexity of the systems.
