Do yourself and the company a service: reduce the meeting by 2 times

I have proven, practical, doable advice for your organization and, more importantly, for you: cut all meetings twice.

The length of meetings is the weak side of many organizations. As for me, even in my agency VaynerMedia there is such a problem.

If you understand the problem, the main thing is to understand that time is an asset. Think about how people use time: they squeeze all the work into their time frame. If you have a meeting for half an hour, you can spend a lot of time on coffee, chat about yesterday's Super Bowl and check the phone 5-6 times, and you still have time to discuss all business matters.

Even in a 15-minute meeting, you would have done the same amount of work. At the meeting, you would discuss only one time, tell one less joke, but would still meet in the allotted time. Such is human nature. We do what we can for the time we have. We want to make sure that everything will be done and achieve our goal.
In the world of mobile phones and a host of other distractions, meetings only worsen the work, and not improve it. As soon as possible, reduce all meetings by half, or at least 30-40%. You will be surprised how effective it is.

This tweet pushed me into these thoughts:

Ok @garyvee, you're right. Five-minute meetings with each member of the team really work, especially for teleworkers.

Ben expressed surprisingly correct thoughts. The tactic of dividing in two, which I think about here, helps me control the length of meetings with my co-workers. Each of my employees at Vayner at some point in time begins to doubt that I meet with each of them separately. I always answer: “Yes, I really meet each separately. Yes I can. I can because I learned to shorten the meetings before discussing all the essential issues, often it’s not 30 minutes. ”

Sometimes meetings take five or seven minutes, sometimes eleven. Sometimes just three. But you understand that everything depends on the context. And what do you think about this?
