Comparison of Russian cloud service operators

I waited a long time and asked the author of the 2014 study to repeat it . Did not wait, despite regular requests. Apparently, imagining what a titanic work lies ahead, the author postponed this idea. But it so happened that not only me, but also my friend, needed cloud services for her company, and she offered me her help in collecting information. So the crazy idea was born to repeat the article. The author did not have any objections to the previous review, so we set to work, using his calculation method as a basis.
This time, 36 companies were included in the review, and the joint work on collecting and analyzing information was delayed for as many as 5 months. We took the configuration, based on the previous comparison, adjusted for the requirements of the company to my friend.


So, we sent the request to the following companies:

  10. What is the guarantee of resources CPU, RAM, HDD, Network?
  11. What is included in the basic support?
  12. Is 24x7 support free?
  13. Whether staffing technologies like VMware High Availability are applied (automatic restart in case of server failure, ~ 5-10 minutes to start the virtual machine)
  14. How many telecom operators are used for fault tolerance AS?
  15. Have a test access? Many days?
  16. How soon is it possible to provide test access?
  17. Is it possible to test access to the resources requested above?

In assessing, we paid attention to the complexity of service provision.
The evaluation was based on the number of pros, cons, and total cost. As a rule, it is most convenient for the customer to order services and work with one performer, therefore companies that did not have the requested services received a minus.

Communication and reaction speed


We sent 795 letters and received 668! Total calls were 284 . Imagine what a gigantic amount of information is. In the process of collecting, I asked my friend to indicate the reaction time of companies to her requests. All requests we tried to send through the site. If there was no response from the site, then they wrote letters, if the letters did not help, which happened quite often, they called in person and left a request.
By providing a commercial offer, we mean the calculation of the resources we have specified. Sometimes managers of companies sent a couple of lines in a letter that lacked half of the services or just a description of the tariffs — we did not count as the first KP provision and asked to send the full one.

And now about prices


In the table, I brought only prices with a maximum discount, which in some cases reached 20-30% of the base amount. Such a price was achieved after a long and even longer contact with managers. I should note that some managers showed maximum flexibility and were easy to reduce the price. For example, the companies Croc, Cloud4Y, IT Grad very actively interacted. Servionika and Oblakoteka referred to the fact that they already counted with the maximum discount and did not provide discounts.
I also paid attention to the currency in which the KP was provided, so De Novo provided the offer in UAH, Linx in euros. Well, Rackspace pleased with unusual currency in British pounds, but AWS did not surprise with dollars. In addition, these same companies do not indicate in the calculation of VAT (and as you know, these + 18% will be charged additionally from the client). One-time payments, as a rule, installation costs, are also included in the table.
Since the main criterion when choosing for us is the amount and completeness of services, then those companies that do not provide the full range of services requested received a minus.
