Results of the first round of CTFzone
Last weekend, July 15-16, the first stage of the CTFzone presidential election took place. The first online stage of the CTFzone is a qualifying round for the main round of presidential elections to be held this fall at the ZERONIGHTS 2017 conference. 765 teams from all over the world took part in the qualifying round - the presidential company CTFzone attracted the attention of participants from 81 countries of the world.
The first round lasted 36 hours and was held in the format Jeopardy. Each team represented the electoral headquarters of the presidential candidate CTFzone. The main tasks of the staffs were to increase the level of popularity of the candidate and obtain votes. For this, participants were asked to solve 20 tasks of various categories: Web, Crypto, MISC, Forensic, Pwn and Reverse. The points for the tasks were accrued according to the dynamic system - initially the teams received the same number of points, but as the number of participants successfully coped with the task increased, the points received for it were recalculated.
The most popular were the categories of Web and Crypto. The most difficult categories were Forensic and MISC - the tasks of these categories were under the force of a few, and one task remained unresolved.

Following the results of the competition, 10 Russian and foreign teams passed to the second round - they will be invited to take part in the second round of the CTFzone elections and lead their candidate to the final victory.
The second stage will take place on November 16-17 and will be held in Attack / Defense format. Given the high level of professionalism of the past teams, the battle promises to be intense. Therefore, we wish the winners of the first round good luck and we are waiting for everyone at the ZERONIGHTS 2017 conference in November.
