For the week from January 29 to February 3, 2007, sales of personal computers in the United States increased by 180.6% compared with sales a week before, according to
Microsoft Watch , citing NPD research. Compared with the same period last year, the growth in computer sales was 67%. Such a jump in popularity, according to analysts, has provided a new operating system Windows Vista, preinstalled on computers.

The situation is even better with laptops: during the week their sales grew by 187.8%, compared to the same period last year - by 119.4%.

At the same time, most buyers preferred to purchase PCs and laptops with a pre-installed Premuim version of Windows Vista (64.3% and 70.5% for personal computers and laptops, respectively). The second most popular version is Basic.
