Vector is engaged in the construction of small rockets capable of lifting loads up to 50 kilograms into space. The company plans to conduct 100 launches per year starting in 2018. These rockets will launch special microsatellites into orbit. The company's developers have created a satellite platform, called Galactic Sky, with the GalacticOS operating system, thanks to which spacecraft can launch various applications.

Vector's Galactic Sky software will allow developers to create, test and simulate applications without having to build or launch their own satellites. Resources in orbit will be tuned dynamically, so service developers will be able to test their ideas in near real time. The solution will also be used in conjunction with Citrix XenServer, a cloud-based server virtualization platform.

“We believe in transformation through innovation. By partnering with Vector, our technology will make it easier for entrepreneurs to work in the space industry, ” says Calvin Hsu, vice president of Citrix.

Thus, the company hopes that Galactic Sky will reduce the complexity of the development of space equipment, revolutionizing the processes of creating solutions for space.

Vector representatives also point out that the ability to run virtual machines on satellites will simplify the process of developing services for space. They also claim that Vector satellites will be able to download new virtual machines. The company believes that the most likely scenarios for the use of hardware and the platform as a whole will be secure storage and high-speed communications, as well as solutions for autonomous analytics.
