Luzhkov and Reiman advocate the abolition of Moscow MGTS tariffs

The Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications supported Yuri Luzhkov in the initiative to revise the MGTS tariffs for the payment of local telephone services, Prime-TASS reported. Like Moscow’s mayor, Minister Leonid Reiman believes that the new rates introduced in the capital on February 1, 2007, will hit retirees and the poor, while for MGTS itself this is an “unjustified” step.

Recall that in Moscow the highest rate in the country for an unlimited tariff is now operating - 380 rubles, which in other regions ranges from 220 to 330 rubles. The mayor is dissatisfied with this: “MGTS is a profitable enterprise, and I see no reason to increase the cost of telephone services”. In other regions, operators did not set marginal tariffs for services, limiting themselves to 50-70 percent of their value.

“Thus, in the Moscow Region, the telecom operator reduced the maximum monthly fee, set at 442 rubles, to 290 rubles,” the ministry informs, “in Volgograd, from 470 to 295, in Magadan from 470 to 310.” In addition, the average length of conversations Muscovites, defined in the plan "Combined" in 307 minutes, underestimated: according to earlier MGTS data, this figure was 500-600 minutes per month.

In addition, in this situation, the Moscow government is concerned about possible budget losses. “The new tariffs for MGTS were approved by the FTS of Russia on December 5, 2006 and published on December 22,” the mayor writes in a statement. - At this time, the budgets of the Russian Federation and Moscow for 2007 have already been adopted. And the growth of tariffs will require adequate financial support for low-income citizens, which means additional costs for the federal and city budgets. ” He pointed out that such a state of affairs is contrary to the norms of Article 31 of the Budget Code of the Russian Federation.
