IKEA creates online store
The Swedish company IKEA decided to upgrade its system for selling goods. In order to manage to serve a huge number of customers in regular stores, which has doubled over the past few years, IKEA UK has created its own online store.
Peter Hegsted, managing director of IKEA UK business, said that the virtual store will open this year after months of preliminary testing. “We could open it tomorrow, but we want to finally make sure that we have created a viable model,” he says.
“The largest sales will continue to come from regular stores, but perhaps 5-6% will be made via the Internet,” added Peter Hegsted.
