Breaking can not be pardoned, or what awaits hackers on PHDays VII

Perhaps the most anticipated part of the forum is contests. This year we have prepared an extensive program: participants are waiting for PHDays classics, and something completely new. The basic rule remains the same - only real goals, only hardcore. Most PHDays VII competitions will be held as part of the Confrontation , the central object will be the smart city. Visitors to the forum will be able to try their hand at hacking into smart home systems, video surveillance cameras, IoT devices, as well as look under the hood of a smart car and break the automation system of the whole city.

The traditional WAF Bypass competition is again on PHDays. As before, participants need to bypass the PT Application Firewall - the application-level firewall from Positive Technologies. This time, the tasks will be aimed at crawling the new PT Application Firewall component to protect the databases. Victory will be counted in the delivery of special flags. Not only forum members, but also Internet users will be able to try their hand.

Feel like a spy can be at the competition MITM Mobile. Our own mobile operator will operate at the PHDays site. Participants will try to intercept SMS, USSD, listen to telephone conversations, clone mobile phones.

Green paper lovers will be able to compete in the Big Kusha (the competition is supported by ARinteg and QIWI). The participants will have a chance to roam, since this year Big Kush is practically a separate organization, including banks (and not only RBS), ATMs, self-service kiosks, online stores and maps. The goal is to get to the money. By the way, the “white hats” will also get something, if they manage to find the zero-day vulnerabilities and quickly and efficiently write an advisory.

One of the new contests is HackBattle . On the first day of the forum, a qualifying stage will be held at the HackBattle booth: participants will need to complete several tasks. On the second day, the best hacker minds will gather on the main stage in order to compete in speed, dexterity and ability to cope with unexpected tasks in real time. Everything that happens will be commented on by a team of professional streamers. What will come of this - we learn at PHDays.
