Four years to Djinn, anonymous job search service

Almost four years ago, in June 2013, I wrote a short post on Habré with the announcement of the Genie . The main feature of the project was (and remains) in the idea of an anonymous job search - the candidate describes his experience and expectations from work, and companies offer vacancies.

I want to tell you what came of it.

Who needs an anonymous search?

A truly anonymous search is needed for a fairly small percentage of users who are really worried that their manager or boss can find out that they are looking for work. But the model “here is my profile, tell me what you can offer me” works perfectly.

First of all, the minimum of time is spent on the search itself; it is enough just to look through the “incoming” offers. Secondly, when the employer takes the first step, this also changes the dynamics of the negotiations. "You wrote to me, it means that you are an interested party, I expect you to answer my questions about the vacancy." And thirdly, it is nice for ČSV, when they are writing and saying how you are demanded from all sides.
')
Another unexpected benefit: when the profile contains wishes for the s / n and the employer writes you first, salary negotiations are easier. "You saw my s / n, when I wrote through the Djinn." Not always, but this argument works.

Soared or not?

As it turned out, doing a job site 10 years later than the “market leaders” is difficult. Neither HeadHunter nor LinkedIn suffered much from Jinn.

Nevertheless, we have found our niche. Several tens of thousands of programmers and about 2-3 thousand companies come to the Djinn every month. In March, there was another record for the number of hires.

What's next?

Last summer, we made free junior recruitment to help young professionals find a job. For six months, 300 juniors found work. We launched a separate section with vacancies for relocate (about a hundred vacancies every month!) And the Telegram channel Tractor on Djinn . Finally, they launched insurance against unscrupulous employers , but only so far in Ukraine.

Labor Market Perspectives in IT

Despite the crises and the devaluation of the ruble and the hryvnia, the demand for programmers has not gone away. Programmers rather won even, according to last year's Stackoverflow Survey , you can buy much more bigmaks for a programmer's salary in Ukraine than in many developed countries.

Our salary widget shows that in 2017 the market comes to life. As well as activity on the part of employers: the number of proposals for a candidate increased by 60% compared with 2016.

So crises are crises, and programmers have nothing to worry about.
