IBM has created a cloud-based tool for centralized management of corporate employee devices.

The corporate network, perhaps, is one of the most important elements of the normal functioning of a modern company. The network is communicating, receiving information, it also stores the most important data. But now in many companies there are so many networked and temporarily connected devices that tracking everything is a very difficult or impossible task. But the phone brought to its workplace with the installed malware can cause the entire network to be compromised with thousands of workstations.

There are not many solutions to this problem. One of them is the use of a new tool from IBM, the MaaS360 Advisor service. It is based on IBM Watson, and the main task of the service is to help system administrators in managing various kinds of mobile devices, laptops and IoT gadgets within the enterprise network. This machine-learning service analyzes the state of various devices connected to the company's network and recommends policies, patches and updates to improve the security of such gadgets. It is about the "individual" approach to each device that connects to the company's central network.

According to experts, the number of such gadgets used for different purposes, is out of control. So, the results of recent studies have shown that about half of the company's employees use about three devices every week for their work.

If at home the number of used gadgets is a problem for the user himself, then at work is a company problem. Moreover, companies are beginning to understand the importance of monitoring such devices, their performance and safety. True, now only about 15% of companies use centralized control for corporate and personal devices connected to the corporate network.

Watson, connected to the MaaS360 Advisor, is gradually learning to register devices within the same network, manage their identification and comply with the requirements for operation. Each device will be tested by the corporation’s cognitive service for known vulnerabilities, including zero-day exploits. Using the new service, employees of the IT department of the company will be able to set the necessary policies. Now in the IBM MaaS360 database there is information about a huge number of different IoT devices.

By the way, IBM’s services related to voice recognition will be involved in the project soon. So, in the future, system administrators will be able to voice control functions MaaS360 Advisor. For example, the system can be asked to show all new devices for the last couple of days or systems that can be upgraded to Windows 10.

The MaaS360 UEM service supports several platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows, macOS / OSX. During this year, the service will be refined and offered to a wide range of users.
