On March 1, the regular CocoaHeads iOS community meeting took place at the Avito office. Under the cut you are waiting for a small story about how the mitap went, and, most importantly, the video recordings of the reports. Enjoy watching! Andrei Yutkin’s Avito story from Avito on how we made the selection and editing of photos in our application opened the mitap. In particular, the basics of the AVFoundation framework were covered, a lot of attention was paid to how to output several previews from the camera in different views. It was also told about how we abstract from the source of photos, what problems we encountered when working with the Photos framework and gave recommendations on how to use memory efficiently when working with images. By the way, we put our camera in open source - now it is available on GitHub .

In addition to the story about the creation of our media picker, there was a lot of other interesting content on the mitap. Vadim Drobinin, a developer with experience, simultaneously providing services for the audit of security for iOS applications, spoke about his experience in this area. He gave a superficial overview of all the popular security risks and potential vulnerabilities that a developer may face in his daily work. As expected, the report gave the audience a lot of questions, mostly revolving around how to crack the pin-code of the phone and pull out all the data.

In the third report, the audience was almost sold to BaaS, which can act as a substitute for the recently completely lost Parse. From the interesting - the speaker briefly touched upon the architecture of their solution and mentioned all the technologies used.

Excellent quiz, conducted by Sasha Zimin. More than a hundred people answered questions about Swift features, various system frameworks, WWDC, Avito, and Apple. As it turned out, three of the top five participants were from our company. Among them is Andrei Yutkin, who by this time had already managed to move away from emotions after his speech.
