Welcome to Game Design meetup February 4



Very soon, on the first Saturday of February, the first informal game meeting Game Design meetup will take place. The event will be interesting to game designers, game analysts and producers GameDev. We really want the representatives of different companies to share their experiences, discuss new products and trends, get to know and make useful contacts. After all, to develop the industry as a whole is useful to all its participants!

For the first meeting, we prepared four reports. In between, you will have the opportunity to discuss what they have heard. The moderator of the meeting is Alexander Mishulin, creative director of GamesLab studio, Mail.Ru Group. Read the program under the cut.

Attracting a gamer to a project is an expensive and nontrivial process. Having learned about the game, becoming interested in it, having reached through the registration, installation and first launch, the user already feels emotional fatigue and a “sense of accomplishment.” And game design has not started yet. How to keep the player until the moment when he is really ready to make a decision “is the game suitable for him” and evaluate its full-fledged gameplay (as well as the difficulties and unobvious obstacles along the way) and will be discussed in the report.

Today, interface design and usability is the most dynamic, global and valuable area of ​​development, the results of which determine how the product will appear to the end user - how informative, understandable, useful, convenient, simple it will be.

The report will consider popular approaches to solving usability problems, which have proven themselves in top products.

What things do PC developers or consoles do not think about, but which should be considered? What opportunities are opening up that are nowhere else? What are the prospects for the direction of VR-games? Dmitry will consider these questions in his report.
