3 days left before the conference “Regulation of cryptocurrency in Russia: interim results”

Already this Thursday, January 26 at 7:00 pm, the Digital October Center conference will host the conference “Regulation of cryptocurrencies in Russia: interim results." In recent months, this topic has become particularly relevant in connection with a number of industry events and public statements.

At the end of November last year, the first official document in the field of Russian cryptocurrency regulation appeared - the letter of the Federal Tax Service of Russia dated October 3, 2016 No. OA-18-17 / 1027 “On measures to control the circulation of cryptocurrencies”. One of the speakers of the upcoming conference - Director, Head of Legal for Tech Group in the Deloitte CIS Artem Tolkachev analyzed the December FTS document. According to the comment of Tolkachev, it follows from the letter that the performance of operations using cryptocurrency is not prohibited .

On December 2, 2016, the Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Olga Skorobogatova announced plans for the Central Bank of the Russian Federation to propose changes in legislation in order to accelerate the development and introduction of new technologies, including in such areas as Fintech and blockchain.

A few days later, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseyev said that the Ministry of Finance expects the adoption of a bill to ban the exchange of cryptocurrencies for rubles not earlier than the fall of 2017. And in January of this year, a government official said that the Central Bank and Rosfinmonitoring believe that there are no threats from cryptocurrency, and therefore the authorities have so far decided to wait with legislative regulation and observe international practice in this area.
