HikVision topped the rating of security system manufacturers made up by A & S media portal and became number 1, we
wrote a longrid about this company a couple of days ago.
Today we will look at the entire rating in detail and all the manufacturers of video surveillance systems in it are presented, for which you can use the rating, and for which you absolutely should not.
And at the same time we will explain why # 1 it does not mean anything.
')

We consider the ratings useful and in demand, unfortunately in the industry of video surveillance systems there is only one rating from A & S, and that is in English. Let us consider it in more detail, what are its disadvantages, and how, despite them, it can be used for the benefit of oneself.
Criteria for ranking
The basis of any rating is the criteria for which it is compiled, in the case of the A & S criterion two.
- Companies that have disclosed their financial statements participate in the rating.
- For the distribution of places in the ranking is used revenue (Total Revenue)

Missing public companies
There are no giant companies in the rating - Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Pelco, D-Link, JVC, Canon. Many of which can be safely called the technological leaders of the industry.

Video surveillance systems are one of the many industries in which they are represented, probably due to the lack of them because they did not want to open A & S which part of their revenues accounted for by video surveillance.
Missing private companies
Some large companies are not public, which means they have no obligation to disclose their financial statements.
First of all, this concerns Chinese companies, many of which have very significant revenues, especially in their market. For example, Uniview says it is the third largest producer in China, but does not disclose its revenue.
42. UNV,
www.uniview.com , China
Too different types of equipment
A striking example of the company Dahua - produces a full range of equipment for video surveillance and Tamron - produces lenses.
Compare them in the same ranking is meaningless and useless.
Revenue structure
A critical question for revenue-based rankings is where this revenue comes from. For example, the leader of the rating, HikVision, earns not only by selling equipment but also by acting as an integrator.
Video surveillance is different
According to IHS estimates, around 250 million video cameras were sold worldwide in 2014, and only 20 percent of them were networked (IP), with most of the sales of analog equipment in Asia and the Pacific.
Hence, another rating problem, it is impossible to compare Axis correctly, which sells only network video cameras and, for example, Chinese companies in the range of which the analog is present in full, and most likely takes a considerable share in turnover.
What can be used for rating
In order to find out the amount of revenue, and the dynamics of its change.
If you are going to study the manufacturers of video surveillance systems yourself, the A & S rating is a good starting point.
Why not use the rating
If you want to evaluate and select a quality manufacturer for your video surveillance system.
What to do?
If the rating can not be used to select a vendor, but still need to choose.
In our opinion there are two options:
1) Buy these
books , and get a job as an installer of video surveillance systems, then a designer, at the same time studying the theory, reading our blog and
very soon you will understand everything.
2) Go to our
home page on video surveillance and order a consultation.
