Annual Report Habrapost - 2016

When a year ago in the reporting post we wrote that 2016 would not be easy, then, of course, we didn’t even know how right we were. There is no need to talk about simplicity, but about the challenges of a planetary scale, if we assume that Intel is a planet, which, in principle, it is. Last year, perhaps the most grandiose reorganization in the history of Intel (at least in the 21st century) took place: several of the company's major activities were closed, reduced or reoriented, thousands of employees around the world were reduced. In Russia, two out of three Intel development offices are closed, in fact only one is left - in Nizhny Novgorod. Compared to such tectonic shifts, any other movement, including Habrablog and the summing up of its annual results, seems insignificant, but traditions are just to follow them.

The cuts also affected the editorial board of the blog - as the song goes, “there were only three of us left”. Taking this opportunity, we convey greetings and respects to our colleagues who left Intel: Svetlana SvetlanaGem Yemelyanova and Marianne MariannaSvetlosanova Svetlossanova - you are really professionals, it was a real pleasure to work with you. The friendly team of editors and authors of the blog Intel, you can say, depopulated.
However, we still achieved something, we will not hide it.

This year we have published exactly as many posts as in the past, due to carefully selected translation materials from the English-language information resources of Intel. But the number of posts of employees of the company, as, indeed, the authors themselves, significantly reduced.

Interesting blog posts were still, albeit less than the year before last. The indicator of the stable quality of blog materials is a constantly increasing number of subscribers, which increased by 7 hundred people over the year. Now we have more than 8 thousand of them - this is the fourth result among companies in general and the second among foreign ones.

Community indicators remained at about the same level as last year. The number of additions to favorites has decreased, but the average number of comments has increased - at the expense of several powerful “holivars”, sometimes not even directly related to the post.

Now hit parade of the best posts of the year.

If we talk about the event of the year directly connected with the blog, then this is undoubtedly the inclusion of the ItSeez blog after its “reverse” purchase of Intel . Thanks to the efficient work of the editors of Habrahabr, the Intel blog was simultaneously enriched with several dozens of excellent posts - the list of the best can be found here Let's ask the distinguished Boomburum who participated in the migration process, were there any precedents in the history of Habra?

As many have already noticed, one of the main priorities in the activities of Intel was (and still is) the “Internet of things”, which, naturally, was reflected in the blog. And we managed to achieve very good results: two authors (comrade CooperMaster and your humble servant) entered the top-5 in the respective hubs on both Habrahabr and GeekTimes, and in total we are the best rated there.

In general, despite the cataclysms, the work of the blog continues and will continue, reflecting the new directions of the company's development. And the main thing: 2017 will finally be simple - we consider this a good omen.
