Android and the “Internet of Things” are closer to each other

The “Internet of things” was conceived by its creators as an environment ideologically alien to any software or hardware limitations. As they say, as you prefer, do so. But what about the convenience of certain solutions can already be discussed. Often it is ease of use and flexibility that are decisive in choosing a particular platform. That is why Intel, as an active participant in the IoT movement, would like to draw attention to the news from colleagues from Google about the release of Developer Preview Android Things development tools and the Weave cloud service update. Now, Android devices, including those on the Intel platform, will be much more comfortable being on the “Internet of Things”

Android Things (formerly Brillo) is a set of tools for developing IoT products based on Android , which simplifies the development process and shortens its duration. The complex includes both new and already familiar from Brillo components, such as Android Studio, Android Software Development Kit (SDK), Google Play Services and Google Cloud Platform , which soon, according to the creators, will receive the latest security updates and compatibility with latest versions of other Google components.

Weave - Google's cloud service, designed to ensure that everyone does not have to fence their own; a finished product that the developer can adapt to their specific needs. In addition to the means of interacting with Google’s cloud network services such as Google Assistant, Weave contains the Device SDK for supported microcontrollers, a control console, sensor and switch wiring diagrams, the list of which is constantly growing. In the near future API for mobile applications for iOS and Android will be released. Finally, work is underway to combine Weave with a similar product, Nest Weave, to reliably and securely connect two classes of devices to each other.
