Garden on the cloud or review of IT supermarkets

image

About 20 years ago, among the city dwellers, the hobby of agro-fitness at their own eco-site, popularly referred to simply as the “vegetable garden”, was very popular. To have our own source of potatoes, not dependent on the political and economic market conditions, was a matter of right, necessary, and - for some time - even economically justified. Having control over our own pool of resources in a crisis situation was worth the effort.

However, the emergence of stable supermarkets has changed the situation radically. Nowadays, individual lovers of this business, either professionals or forced ones, are now engaged in individual farming.

The time has passed, the country has changed. Business and time-based technologies have appeared in the country. However, the habit of having “all your own” has too deep roots to just disappear. Instead of a garden, it’s just that it’s own server, and overseas gigabytes are growing on this garden.

Just a few years ago, such a “garden” was a must have for each at least some large company. Today, modern IT supermarkets called data centers have entered the market. The boundaries of server capacity spread to the borders of public clouds. A huge amount of "tasty", useful and accessible IT resources - for any, even the most demanding, taste. There would be a desire.

However, like everything new, the clouds must be studied. But if everyone says that he is the best, then how to choose? Only by comparison. Having worked a little bit, I collected the data, and I summarized what I got below.

The comparison was based on the average idea of a modern company, based on the experience of our project manager.

The result was a production and trading company (for example, selling furniture fittings and designer furniture of its own production) with several branches in regional centers. There are remotely working employees, for all terminal connection becomes. The total number of employee workstations is 60-70 people. There is a design bureau.

In the request: storage, control of goods, work of employees, an active sales department. In the cloud are 1C, CRM, SQL, ERP and other incomprehensible abbreviations. Daily backup with a depth of 7 copies. In general, the requirement was 26 vCPU, 300 GB RAM, VPN + 128bit encr., 10x IPv4, 1 Gbit / s per world, Shared storage: 12 TB low speed storage (SATA, SAS) and 1 TB high speed storage (SSD ).

I ran through the main "IT-supermarkets" , most often recommended for our market, and took the price as one of the most popular criteria as a basis for comparison. In general, the following happened:

Config: 26 vCPU, 300 GB RAM, VPN + 128bit encr. 10x IPv4, 1 Gbit / s to the world,
Shared storage: 12 TB low speed storage (SATA, SAS) 1 TB high speed storage (SSD)

Of course, price is not the only bread - not the only decision-making driver, and there are other fundamentally important criteria. Therefore, in the foreseeable future, in my creative plans (if I live) - to make a comparison in terms of functionality, support, user-friendly interface and other important things. Well, today, in order to make comparisons do not crack 20 companies reach trying to embrace the immense, I share at least that. Use it! I would be glad if it will bring someone benefit.

Have a nice day!
