On Thursday, December 15, at 20:00, a meeting with Alexander Chepurny , an employee of IOHK Research, will be held at the office of SEMrush. The subject of the meeting is a blockchain for developers . In this session, everything will be told about the technology: from the very basics to the details of various problems and attacks.

The blockchain technology (and, in particular, cryptocurrency) has become widely known in recent years - only lazy does not speak about them. But how are these things arranged? Can a blockchain be without cryptocurrency? Why do I need to run my node? What are the security guarantees? What about attacks? All these and many other questions in the course of the lecture will be given detailed answers.

We will learn how to create perfectly replicated logs in a peer-to-peer network, even in the presence of serious active attacks. Let us consider in general the structure of the Bitcoin blockchain, its transactions, Proof-of-Work algorithm of consensus. Next, we turn to the consideration of the problems of Bitcoin and other systems, including examples of specific attacks, we learn about solutions to some existing systems (and what new problems they bring).

Listeners are not required to have deep knowledge in cryptography. There is enough basic knowledge of data structures and a general understanding of how the cryptographic function and electronic signature work.
