Apple began to publish daily MobileMe status reports.

Apple seriously tackled the MobileMe service issues that have made themselves felt in the last two weeks. In the process of correcting them, the head of the company Steve Jobs has already been involved.

Steve Jobs gave a task to an Apple employee several times a week to update the MobileMe status page , where you can find out some details about why the new push service refused to work and what has been fixed so far.

“The first two weeks after the launch turned out to be problematic and we know what inconvenience some people have experienced,” says the status page. “You can be sure that our people are now working on solving the problem around the clock, and we will notify you about the progress of work, even if you later have to post changes or updates.”

As the first news, it is announced that a “serious problem” on their email servers has closed access to about one percent of MobileMe clients, but access to their mail through the browser is already open, and full restoration of functionality should be completed within a week or by the beginning of the month. At the same time, an Apple employee warns that about 10% of the letters sent between July 16 and 18 will be lost.

Without providing a detailed comment, the employee also adds that many problems with the service are caused by an influx of traffic on the launch day of the iPhone 3G and iPhone 2.0 firmware, the volumes of which exceeded all expectations, thereby cutting off web access to all MobileMe functions. According to Apple, the company not only made the service “stronger”, but also took some steps to improve the stability of the software during such interruptions, as well as polish the overall functionality.

“Our team also fixed about 70 errors, including the one that prevented the MobileMe IMAP directories from being synchronized between the web application and Mac OS X Mail, or Outlook,” the employee notes, “in addition, the errors in displaying data in the Calendar were improved and the web performance was improved -applications. "

In the coming days, it is expected to update the status page, from which it will be possible to find out new details. In the meantime, the company has updated an article on technical problems with MobileMe mail, including a partial solution for those who have been harmed by disabling the service.
