Today, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer sent out a letter to all of the company's employees describing his action plan for the new fiscal year, in which he outlined Apple’s approach to business as something to strive for in order to achieve success.
“In the competition between PC and Mac, we beat Apple on 30 sales to one. But Apple is flourishing, no doubt, ”Ballmer wrote in a letter, a
copy of which went to the Wall Street Journal. - Why? Because they know a lot about providing limited, but self-sufficient products, while we have complete control, it is usually inferior to our desire to give a choice. ”
Further, Ballmer says that Microsoft will change its approach to cooperation with suppliers of computer hardware, as Apple does, in a situation in which "there will be no compromise." His plan offers the same approach in the mobile phone market, where he hopes to create “excellent, self-sufficient products” akin to Apple’s closed ecosystem, where the company controls almost all aspects of product design.
Ballmer’s notes with his comments about the mobile phone industry appeared at the same time as the rumors that the Redmond software giant had recently held a meeting planning an iPhone competitor. The

In addition, Ballmer noted that Windows and Vista’s reputation remain Microsoft’s number one priority. He also said that the recent release of Windows Vista SP1 and the collaboration with PC makers have solved many compatibility issues with applications and devices that have previously spoiled the impression of the operating system.
“The time has come to express our opinion,” Ballmer said. - In the coming weeks, we will launch a
campaign that will dispel all the long-standing doubts of our customers about Windows Vista. And later this year you will see a more obvious approach to redefining the significance and value of Windows for our customers. ”
